Allergy Testing

At our clinic, we provide comprehensive environmental allergy testing, targeting the most common allergens specific to our region. This includes testing for common year-round triggers such as pet dander (cat, dog, horse), as well as other environmental allergens that can affect your well-being throughout the year.

How does it work?

1. Book an appointment with us for an allergy consult. You will discuss concerns with our provider and go through a comprehensive questionnaire.

2. If you are considered a candidate, the provider will explain the testing and set you up for a 1-hour appointment.

3. When you arrive for the appointment, we will perform a skin-prick test. The test takes 15-30 minutes. The provider will read the results to you in office then explain what immunotherapy treatment options are available to you.

4. If you choose to do immunotherapy treatment, this will consist of in-office injections or sublingual therapy at home.

Is this covered by insurance?

Yes, testing is covered by most insurances. Immunotherapy is also mostly covered. The exception is at-home sublingual therapy is not covered and considered self-pay.

Do you have to get immunotherapy if you are tested?

No! A lot of patients decide to be tested to simply learn their allergen triggers and will know to avoid them depending on the season.

You can see above the tool used to "prick" the skin for the allergy testing. It is only mildly uncomfortable. No needles involved!

During our skin prick allergy testing, we measure the wheal (raised bump) and erythema (redness) that develop at each test site. These reactions will appear similar to the example shown in the picture. Based on the size and intensity of these reactions, we can accurately determine which allergens you may be allergic to, helping us create a personalized treatment plan to manage your symptoms effectively.
